Seafood Restaurants - La Mer - in Hua Hin

It does not matter if you are visiting Hua Hin for just the weekend to escape Bangkok, or whether it is part of a longer holiday. When visiting a seaside town for a break, good quality seafood is frequently a priority on the must-have / do list.

In Hua Hin there are numerous seafood restaurants. One of the most popular areas especially for westerners, but not so much for Thai's, is The Pier which is within walking distance from the central beachside area where the Sofitel and Hilton are located. We have never been very impressed with the restaurants at The Pier, they tend to be overpriced for the quality, offer average to poor service and generally lack the relaxed chilled out ambience we look for when wanting to enjoy a nice dinner of the freshest seafood.

The Pier's central location will always guarantee it a certain number of customers, but just being so easy to get to should not influence where you spend your hard earned money. If you would like some great views, fresh breeze, and some of, if not the best seafood in Hua Hin, then we urge you to try La Mer restaurant.

La Mer is perched high on a cliff off Khao Takiab beach. It is located around 10 minutes from central Hua Hin so it is best to get a taxi or tuk tuk to go there (see: Getting Around Hua Hin). Once there, you will be able to enjoy the stunning views of central Hua Hin and surrounds, and as you are high above the sea there is normally a refreshing sea breeze that will help keep you cool. The service at La Mer is excellent, comparable even to some of the better 5-star hotels in Thailand, and the seafood is even better!

La Mer is very popular with Thai's which is always a good indication of a seafood restaurant's quality. The menu is available in both Thai and English, and the staff are more than helpful if you are unsure what to order. The seafood is extremely fresh, and with most quality seafood restaurants, depending on the dish, is priced by weight.

So, if you are looking for the some of the best seafood in Hua Hin, then do not miss making at least one visit to La Mer, the impressive view, and the quality, but unobtrusive, live music are just bonuses!

The telephone number of La Mer restaurant in Hua Hin is: +66 32 536205.
