Travellers could well face stiffer hotel bills in Sydney this year, with rates surging by 8.7% in the first quarter of 2017. Analysis from 4th Dimension, Flight Centre Travel Group's (FCTG) business travel consulting division, showed average nightly rates had risen to AU$270 with occupancy levels topping out at more than 90%.

Air Astana has signed a long-term lease agreement with AerCap for five Embraer E190-E2s, which will commence delivery to the airline during the final quarter of 2018. The E-190-E2 can have between 97 and 114 seats depending on its configuration. Carrying a full load of passengers, the E190-E2's range extends to 2301.55nm (3704km). The aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1

AccorHotels has appointed Rhonda Hare as General Counsel Asia Pacific. Rhonda joins the group with over 22 years of experience as an in-house and private practice lawyer across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. She was a Partner at Ashurst LPP (formerly Blake Dawson) and more recently part of the Legal Division at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).
23. China Airlines and Air France to Codeshare on Taipei - Paris Flights
China Airlines has partnered with Air France to begin offering non-stop Taipei-Paris flights from 16 April 2018. The three codeshare flights per week will be flown by Air France with China Airlines having up to 100 Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class seats on each flight.

Bangkok Airways has opened two lounges at Suvarnabhumi Airport near Bangkok. Located on the 3rd floor of Concourse D, the 250-sqm Boutique Lounge can accommodate up to 120 people, while the 200-sqm Blue Ribbon Club Lounge can accommodate up to 50. The lounges are open from 04:30hrs-22:00hrs.
