Customers on board Singapore Airlines flights can now look forward to a wider selection of audio books on KrisWorld, the airline’s inflight entertainment system, through a collaboration with Singapore’s National Library Board (NLB).

The initial batch of 13 audio books includes titles such as Dracula by Bram Stoker, Wizard Of Oz by L. Frank Baum and The War Of The Worlds by HG Wells.

“Audio books are the next best thing for busy travellers who do not have time for a ‘good read’. They can help bring a story to life using voices, tonations, accents, and sound effects that spark the listener’s imagination. The listener can also hear the words exactly as the author intended, enhancing the ‘reading’ experience,” said Ms Tay Ai Cheng, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Librarian, Public Library Services Group, National Library Board.

Mr Tan Pee Teck, Senior Vice President Product and Services at Singapore Airlines, added, “While audio books have been a feature in our inflight entertainment offering for some time, this new selection of titles recommended by the National Library Board has broadened our range of fiction books. We are constantly seeking to improve the entertainment experience for our customers and hope this will be just the start, with more audio books to be offered in future.”

To provide travellers with a wider choice, the list of audio books is refreshed monthly.
