1. Starwood Launches SPG Keyless Hotel Room Locks
Starwood has launched SPG Keyless, a mobile, keyless entry system that allows guests to use their smartphone as a key. SPG Keyless goes live Wednesday, 5 November 2014, at the following hotels: Aloft Beijing, Aloft Cancun, Aloft Cupertino, Aloft Harlem, W Doha, W Hollywood, W Hong Kong, W New York-Downtown, W Singapore and Element Times Square.

3. Enjoy Keyless Room Entry at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral
Guests of the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral can now use their smartphone as a room key. SPG Keyless – powered by the SPG app – enables guests to bypass the front desk (where available) and go directly to their room, unlocking the door with a simple tap of their smartphone.
4. Marriott Expands SPG Mobile Check-In to More Hotels
Following the successful rollout of SPG Mobile Check-In in the U.S., Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) is bringing the mobile check-in experience to members across Asia Pacific in over 300 hotels. Globally, more hotels will begin offering this feature exclusively on the SPG Mobile app with the global rollout expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
5. Ronni Dalhoff Joins Diethelm Travel Cambodia as Managing Director
Ronni Dalhoff has been appointed as Managing Director of Diethelm Travel Cambodia. Dalhoff replaces former Managing Director, Pierre Jungo, who has retired after being with the company for 20 dedicated years of service. A Danish national, Dalhoff has lived in Cambodia for the past five years working as an operations manager and hotel manager.
6. United Airlines Launches Flights Between San Francisco and Auckland, New Zealand
United Airlines has launched nonstop flights between San Francisco and Auckland, New Zealand. United will operate Boeing 787-8 aircraft on the San Francisco - Auckland. United Flight 917 will depart San Francisco at 22:45 three times weekly, arriving at Auckland International Airport at 06:55 two days later due to time zone differences (all times local).
7. Starwood Signs First Aloft Resort in Middle East
Starwood has signed an agreement with Mr. Rashid Al Abbar to open an 192-room Aloft hotel on Dubai’s iconic man-made island – Palm Jumeirah. Scheduled to open in 2017, Aloft Dubai, The Palm will be the brand’s first resort in the Middle East.
8. Saudi Arabia and Mexico Give Marriott Starwood Merger Green Light; China Still to Authorise
Marriott has received authorization from competition authorities in Saudi Arabia and Mexico to proceed with its acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in a merger transaction. With these authorizations, the only remaining country in which Marriott and Starwood require pre-merger authorization is China .
