Aerospace Lancashire to Have Largest Ever Presence at Farnborough Airshow 2016

Aerospace Lancashire will have its biggest ever presence at this months Farnborough International Airshow (11-17 July).

Aerospace Lancashire is a collaboration between the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Lancashire County Council to showcase the sectors strength, suppliers and partners, such as:

Lancashire is at the centre of the largest cluster of aerospace production in the UK, employing over 12,700 people, and part of a wider world-class regional cluster accounting for more than a quarter of UK aerospace production.

BAE Systems, which assembles the UKs Eurofighter Typhoons in Lancashire and will build 10% of the F-35 programme - the largest military aerospace programme ever, worth $1 trillion - is based in Lancashire and other firms are supplying the civil aviation market, such as the nearby Airbus UK facility.

Lancashire makes a significant contribution to the whole aerospace supply chain with world-class firms like Senior Aerospace Weston, Magellan Aerospace, Rolls-Royce and Safran Nacelles, to name but a few, operating in areas such as metal machining of aircraft structural and engine components, the process and treatment industry and engine sub-systems.

Lancashire is at the forefront of global innovation in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle technology - the worlds most advanced UAV, the Taranis, was designed, built and tested in Lancashire.

The Samlesbury Enterprise Zone (EZ) site is a new, high quality development on the UKs newest Advanced Manufacturing Park immediately adjacent to BAE systems. Colliers International is now marketing the 1 million sq ft of business space at Samlesbury.

A number of major firms based, or with a presence in the county - such as Safran-Nacelles, Rolls Royce and Hycrome Aerospace - will represent Lancashire at the airshow. Representatives of the LEP, Lancashire County Council, the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) and Colliers International will also be present.

Aerospace Lancashires stand is alongside a range of the countys aerospace companies and suppliers including Hurst Green Plastics, Valuechain, Granada Material Handling, Castle Metals, Rule IQ, Senior Aerospace and also the University of Central Lancashire.

Kaman, Safran-Aircelle, Magellan, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems are among the firms exhibiting elsewhere on site.

Aerospace Lancashire is part of the NWAA stand at 1/B140 in Hall 1.
