Travel News Asia 11 June 2004

Only 24 hours after AirAsia launched its low fares for the new Bangkok-Macau route the airline announced that over 6,000 seats have been already been sold.

The airline introduced special launch fares with 10,000 seats available at only Baht 679 / MOP 149 one way (excluding airport taxes and fees) in conjunction with the commencement of its new service to Macau. From the total number of seats sold, 70% of bookings were done through the internet and 30% through the airline’s Call Centre.

The above special launch fares are good for travel from 5th July 2004 to 30th October 2004. To enjoy the special launch fares, seats must be purchased from 10th June to 5th July 2004. It is important to know that the special launch fares may not be available on all flights, and guests should book early to avoid disappointment.

Once confirmed, bookings for these promotional fares cannot be changed, transferred or rebooked to another date, and payments made are not refundable in the case of cancellation. As soon as the special launch fares are sold out, AirAsia’s regular fares for Bangkok – Macau starts from Baht 1000 / MOP 219 one way.

Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia commented, “We are delighted and encouraged by the astounding response to our new Bangkok-Macau flights. Our low fares are definitely here to stay. We thank the people for their support and we look forward to welcoming them on board and introducing our friendly service. We are committed to grow the flying market and we are confident that our low fares will significantly grow passenger traffic between Bangkok and Macau.”
