The Thai carrier's twice-daily service on the route started today using Boeing 737-900ER aircraft that are configured with all-economy-class leather seats with a 29in seat pitch. The carrier is the first to operate the 737-900ER in Thailand.

For those leaving Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport Thai Lion Air's flight departs at 11:20 to arrive in Chiang Mai at 12:35. The second daily flight departs Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport at 15:40 and arrives in Chiang Mai at 16:55.

The first Thai Lion Air flight departs Chiang Mai at 13:20 to arrive in Bangkok at 14:35. The second flight departs Chiang Mai at 17:35 and arrives at Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport at 18:50.

The airline has quite aggressive expansion plans and hopes to launch flights to Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur either later this month or possibly in January 2014. Its next domestic Thai destination is likely to be Bangkok - Hat Yai.
