Author Dr. Farhang Jahanpour to Deliver Keynote Address at the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin, Germany

Hosts of the 9th International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) have confirmed that Dr. Farhang Jahanpour will speak about “The Clash of the Civilisations” at the event to be held 6-8 March 2006 at the InterContinental Hotel in Berlin, Germany. 

IHIF co-host Mike Malley of Questex said, “Travel and tourism is always impacted by geo-political issues and Dr Jahanpour’s keynote address will provide us with his views on the changing landscape.”

Dr. Jahanpour is a British national of Iranian origin. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Oriental Studies from the University of Cambridge and is a former professor and dean of the Faculty of Languages at the University of Isfahan. He has taught at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, as well as teaching online courses for Oxford, Yale and Stanford. Dr. Jahanpour also spent many years as an Editor for the BBC. He has edited and written an introduction to Nuzhat Nama-ye 'Ala'i, an eleventh century encyclopedia of natural sciences, history and literature and has translated Arnold Toynbee's Civilization on Trial, in addition to publishing the Directory of Iranian Officials. 

The theme for this year’s IHIF is “Navigating the Seas Ahead.” The last IHIF held in March 2005 drew a record number of delegates. More than 1,100 delegates from 52 countries attended IHIF. The event covers three days and will be held immediately before the ITB, the massive hospitality travel trade show in Berlin, Germany.
