53. Hawaiian Airlines Expands Interisland Fleet
Hawaiian Airlines has leased three additional Boeing 717-200 aircraft in response to increasing consumer demand. With these aircraft joining the fleet, Hawaiian will be able to expand its interisland service between Honolulu and Kahului, Lihue, Hilo, and Kona during peak travel periods, and further improve its operational reliability.

IATA’s traffic results for May 2011 show a 6.8% increase in passenger traffic over May 2010. This is 4% higher than the beginning of the year. Freight traffic showed a drop of 4% against the post-recession peak of the re-stocking cycle in May 2010. However, recent months show a renewed upward trend with freight volumes 2% higher than the start of the year.

Scoot has launched non-stop flights between Singapore Changi and its fourth Australian destination, Melbourne. Scoot will operate the route with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft five times weekly, rising to daily during peak travel periods.
