Compared to November 2014, hotels in Europe reported a 0.8% increase in occupancy to 68.1%, a 4.1% increase in ADR to EUR107.74 and a 4.9% increase in RevPAR to EUR73.40. ADR drove performance for the month, especially in Southern Europe, where RevPAR rose 13.2% to EUR64.13. Air Canada flight AC088, en route to Toronto from Shanghai, was diverted to Calgary after hitting turbulence en route. 21 passengers were transferred directly to local hospitals from the airport, comprising 8 with non-life threatening injuries, and 13 for observation.
69. Etihad Airways "Deeply Disappointed" by German Court’s Decision
Etihad Airways today issued a statement to express its disappointment of the German court’s decision to withdraw approval for codeshare services with airberlin on 29 routes. Etihad Airways owns 29.2% of airberlin, which is Germany’s second largest airline. The airline said it is reviewing the judgment and will file an appeal against the decision early next week.
70. Costa Asia to Build Two Ships for Chinese Market
Costa Asia has unveiled plans to build two new ships for China. The ships, each with 135,500 gross tons and capable of carrying 4,200 guests, will be manufactured in Italy. They will be specifically designed for the Chinese market, joining the fleet in 2019 and 2020.
