Vivo Xplay 5 - World's First Smartphone with 6GB RAM

Vivo, one of China's most successful mobile phone brands, has unveiled its new flagship.

The Vivo Xplay 5, scheduled to hit shelves in China within the next few days, will be available in two varieties.

The top of the range Vivo Xplay 5 has a 5.43-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. It features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset, Adreno 530 GPU, 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 128GB of non-expandable internal storage, dual SIM slots, a built-in 3,600mAh battery, and will ship with Android 5.1.

The phone could prove popular with audiophiles as it features a HiFi 3.0 package consisting of two ES9028 Sabre Mobile DAC chips plus three OPA1612 amplifiers.

The 16 MP camera on the rear of the Vivo Xplay 5 is powered by a Sony IMX298 sensor with phase detection autofocus, and features a f/2.0 lens. At the front of the phone, there is a 8MP camera with a f/2.4 lens.

The less powerful model of the Vivo Xplay 5 still has 128GB of internal storage but will feature a mid-range Snapdragon 652, Adreno 510 GPU, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and different audio chips (CS4395 and AD45257).

The more powerful Vivo Xplay 5 will cost RMB 4,288 (about HK$5,080), while the less powerful version is priced at RMB 3,698 (about HK$4,380).
