Alex Corbisiero has been called up to the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia as cover for Cian Healy.

Healy sustained suspected ankle ligament damage against Western Force in Perth, Australia, on Wednesday.

Corbisiero will now join the squad from England's tour of Argentina. His arrival date is expected to be confirmed shortly.

British & Irish Lions Head Coach, Warren Gatland, said, "Cian has had an X-ray and, while his left ankle is not broken, he will be assessed further when we get to Brisbane. In the meantime we need to get Alex over here as soon as possible and I am thankful to Stuart Lancaster for letting him go so quickly."

The British & Irish Lions beat Western Force 69-17.

They next play the Queensland Reds on Saturday in Brisbane.
