Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Monday, 4 February 2013

[HD video below] Exclusive HD video interview with the owner of GranMonte Vineyard, Winery, and Estate, Mr. Visooth Lohitnavy.

In this interview, filmed in the vineyard on 3 February 2013, Mr. Visooth tells us about the company, what wines they currently produce and whether he foresees an increase in production over the previous year's 80,000 bottles - and if so by how much, what the company does with the waste that comes from producing wine and how much of the revenue comes from the shop or from the actual wines themselves.

We talk about the new sparkling wine that they plan to launch later this year, what it might be called, and whether the vineyard and grapes were affected by the strange weather we have been having in Thailand recently.

You will learn why Mr Visooth believes that his wine is among some of the best in Thailand, and why Asoke Valley in Khao Yai is suitable for wine production.

We also touch on the prickly subject of prices, and why Thai wines cost the same as imported wines, how Mr. Visooth thinks Thai wine - particularly GranMonte - differ from wines produced in countries such as France and Italy, whether the quality of glass used to serve the wine makes any difference and what he thinks of Thai crystal glass brands such as Lucaris and much, much more.

We will also be uploading some high res still images and HD video from the GranMonte Pick of the Season Harvest Festival which took place on 2-3 February 2013 so do check back.
