With ushers in black-tie at the ready, a full house audience of 1,800 was treated to the debut of the new Venetian Theatre on Sunday.

World-renowned violinist Jue Yao and diva Elisa Chan enchanted the audience with their dazzling 80-minute All About Love – A Tribute to the Silver Screen concert.

Jue Yao played a series of love songs throughout the concert such as Sex and the City’s theme song, “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin, and “Married Life” from Pixar’s Up.

Elisa Chan sang James Bond Medley and golden Cantonese tracks.

The concert ended with an impressive encore performance of “All That Jazz” from Chicago and the title track from La Bamba.

“Sunday’s performance by world-renowned violinist Jue Yao and diva Elisa Chan is the first of many diverse acts to come at this amazing new venue,” said Gus Liem, Vice President of Entertainment, Venetian Macau Limited. “Sands China is firmly committed to establishing Macau as Asia’s leading business and leisure destination, and as the place to go for world-class entertainment. We are confident that the Venetian Theatre will quickly become known as one of the most luxurious entertainment venues in greater China.”

In addition to the dapper ushers, guests were well-taken care of, with champagne service and gourmet food and beverage items. Before the show, the foyer of the new theatre was elegantly decorated for a pre-opening cocktail.

Renowned film producer Wong Pak Ming and director Barbara Wong were among the celebrities in attendance, along with government officials, teachers and students from various music schools.

Liem added, “Led by our company’s efforts, the market for entertainment in Macau has exploded over the past few years. Since opening The Venetian Macau in 2007, we’ve had almost 2 million people attend our entertainment events. And it makes us extremely proud to know that our arena is now the top entertainment destination in southern China. And we are not resting on our laurels: the Venetian Theatre represents an acceleration of our entertainment mission, which includes our new Sands Cotai Central property and future developments.”
