Carlson Rezidor Appoints EVP Development - Asia Pacific

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Thomas J. Monahan as executive vice president, Development, Asia Pacific.

Tom is based in the Singapore office and reports to Simon C. Barlow, president for Asia Pacific.

Tom will lead the Asia Pacific development team in driving strategies to establish Carlson Rezidor’s hotel brands in the region. He will oversee a regional team responsible for securing new management contracts and franchise agreements and identifying investment opportunities in the region.

“Tom is well respected in the hospitality industry with a strong track record in hotel development in the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific,” added Mr Barlow. “He will be an asset to the Asia Pacific leadership team with his experience in cross-cultural management in international environments and significant involvement in new business development and finance. He is highly skilled in strategy development and has a strong network of hotel owners and developers in the region.”

Tom has been in the hospitality industry for more than 35 years. Before joining Carlson Rezidor, Tom was executive vice president of international development at the Wyndham Hotel Group. Prior to that, he was formerly the senior vice president of acquisitions and development with Starwood in Asia Pacific, leading a team across seven offices in key Asian markets including China, India, Indochina and Southeast Asia. He was also previously finance director of Granada/Forte PLC in London and has held various finance positions at InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, based in cities including New York, Jakarta and Hong Kong.

He has a Bachelors degree in accounting from the University at Albany and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pace University.
