The Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, has appointed
Wolfgang Krueger to succeed Darren Gearing as area general
In his new capacity, Mr. Krueger oversees the overall
hotel operations of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong. He also has
supervisory responsibility over Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza
Hotel, Taipei, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan and
Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo.
A German native, Mr. Krueger has over 20 years of international experience. Most
recently, he was general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo,
overseeing the pre and post opening of the first Shangri-La hotel
in Japan, and from where he moved as area general manager to
Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong.
Other postings include general
manager of Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei and Edsa
Shangri-La, Manila, and hotel manager of Makati Shangri-La,
Manila. Earlier in his career, he held key hospitality positions
in London, Istanbul, Dusseldorf, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala
Lumpur and Hawaii.
Mr. Krueger is a member of the Cornell
Hotel Society in Ithaca, New York, the Institute of Hospitality in
London, and the World Association of Chefs’ Societies in

Shangri-La Hotel, at the Shard, London, United Kingdom which opens
in 2013. Mr. Gearing will also have regional responsibilities for
Europe and North America.
