Materna is showcasing its Integrated Passenger Services (ips) at the Passenger Terminal Expo, which is being held 18 - 20 April 2012 in Vienna.

As well as its established solutions for check-in, security and boarding, the key focus for Materna at this year's event will be the live demonstration of its new baggage drop-off technology. Together with its partners Sick and Vanderlande, the company will demonstrate how bag drop procedures can be optimised for operators and passengers alike.

Materna, which has been operating successfully in the bag drop segment since 2003, is focusing on cutting-edge technologies for its new baggage handling system, such as the integration of mobile components for cashless payment.

Materna's CUSS platform-based baggage drop-off solution gives passengers the option of self-service bag drop regardless of counter opening hours. The bag tags can be printed out beforehand at home or at the airport. The system supports bag drops for passengers travelling in groups. If excess baggage payments are necessary, the excess baggage fee can also be calculated and paid using the Materna solution, offering passengers more flexibility and convenience in their travel preparations.

Airport operators can use the new bag drop system as a fully automated or attended solution and can continue to utilize existing infrastructure such as conveyor belt systems.
