Project Phoenix CRJs to Include MedAire’s Remote Medical Assistance

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 17 November 2008

Passengers and crew flying newly-reconfigured Project Phoenix CRJ 12 to 19-passenger business aircraft will benefit from built-in access to life-saving MedAire medical solutions, following the signing of an agreement with MedAire at the Middle East Business Aviation Show in Dubai on Sunday.

Project Phoenix will offer Phoenix CRJ owners a complimentary MedAire medical package, including a one year subscription that connects passengers and crew to doctors in MedAire’s 24/7 MedLink Global Response Center. In the event of an in-flight medical event, crewmembers can contact MedLink emergency care doctors via their satellite phone or radio. Additionally, three CRJ crew members will receive first-responder medical training and will have access to an Aircraft First Aid Kit – both developed and delivered by MedAire’s medical team – as well as access to an onboard automated external defibrillator.

The installation will be made during the interior fitting, carried out by Project Phoenix partners Peterborough, Toronto-based Flying Colours. This coming January in Macau, the first Phoenix CRJ that is scheduled for delivery to Asian business charter operator, Jet Asia, will feature a standard MedAire package.

“Since 1989, MedAire has provided premier medical solutions to aircraft manufacturers around the world,” said Richard J. Moore, managing director of MedAire Ltd. “We are very pleased to add another independent cooperation with Project Phoenix, which will provide the industry’s best health and safety coverage to anyone traveling on a Phoenix CRJ.”

Owners and air crew will also have the opportunity to buy additional medical offerings from MedAire, such as the Emergency Medical Kit and Pediatric Kit (both with prescription medications).
