Six Continent Hotels' Corporate Chief Concierge, Asia Pacific, and Concierge for the Inter-Continental Hotel Sydney, Tony Facciolo, O.A.M has been appointed by the Golden Key Hotels of the World as the Chief Inspector of Golden Key Hotels Standards for China.

In an unprecedented move, The Golden Key Hotels, in recognition of his global experience, has appointed Tony as the first European to the role of Chief Inspector. This new direction by The Golden Key Hotels of the World aims to expedite the exchange of views from the Western system of service into the Chinese system of service to raise the standard of services across all Chinese hotels.

The Chief Inspector role oversees over 9,000 hotels across every chain in the China area and is in addition to Tony's on-going role as Six Continent Hotels' Corporate Chief Concierge, Asia Pacific, based at the Inter-Continental Hotel Sydney.

"Tony's appointment is the result of over 45 years' experience in the hotel industry, during which he has provided a premium level of service and guest recognition, and continues to do so in his current role with Six Continents Hotels," said Six Continents Hotels' Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Phil Lee.

"This is an exciting announcement for Six Continents Hotels as it comes at a time when we are currently enhancing the brand standards and offerings of our own global brand portfolio to cater to the changing needs of our local and international business and leisure travellers," Phil Lee added.

Tony Facciolo was invited by The Golden Key Hotels of the World to be a guest speaker at a meeting of over 120 general managers from properties across China. Tony explained his view of the future as it pertains to the role of the "concierge", and following that address was appointed to his new advisory role as Chief Inspector.

"In today's current climate, people are basing their hotel decisions on familiarity, recognition, consistency and delivery of the service promise. It is the adding of significant value to the guest experience that builds loyalty and it is that delivery of service to the guest which has been exemplified throughout Tony's career that has seen him awarded this new role," Phil Lee added.

Tony Facciolo has made many contributions to the tourism industry and the strong reputation he has enjoyed throughout many successful years is further recognised in the international arena by this new appointment, as well as his current title of World Ambassador for Life of Les Clefs d'Or, the prestigious worldwide society of Concierges.
