Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) has named Habitat for Humanity International as the SkyWish Charity of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2002. Through SkyWish, Delta's charitable mileage donation program, SkyMiles members can donate miles to help volunteers travel to special Habitat for Humanity projects and receive necessary training.

Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has built houses with families in need in more than 80 countries, including nearly 40,000 houses across the United States. Habitat for Humanity International, the largest not-for-profit house builder in the United States, keeps costs affordable by using donated materials and volunteer labor to build simple houses with no-profit, zero-interest mortgages.

"It is an honor for Delta to assist Habitat for Humanity International as it fulfills a basic need for its hardworking recipients," said Vicki Escarra, Delta’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "Delta SkyMiles donated through our SkyWish Program will help volunteers reach a number of domestic and international destinations where Habitat engages in its important work."

The support of volunteers is key to Habitat for Humanity’s success. Habitat volunteers have built and rehabilitated houses in more than 2,000 communities across the world, providing shelter for nearly 600,000 people worldwide. With affiliates in 83 countries, Habitat for Humanity is working toward its goal of eliminating poverty housing by building in every nation on earth.

"At Habitat for Humanity, we are grateful for the support and generosity of partners like Delta Air Lines to make sure people in need have a simple, decent place to live," said Millard Fuller, founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International. "We feel blessed by their commitment to help people who are less fortunate."

Beginning today, SkyMiles members may donate miles to Habitat for Humanity International via SkyWish. There is a 5,000-mile minimum donation, and Delta will boost each donation by adding 1,000 miles for every 5,000 miles contributed.

Donations can be made via e-mail at delta.bids@delta.com, by calling (1) 800-325-3999 or via FAX at (1) 404-773-1945. SkyMiles members should include their SkyMiles account number, the amount of miles to be donated and note that Habitat for Humanity International is the charity that their miles will benefit. SkyWish donations are not tax deductible for Delta Air Lines or SkyMiles members.

Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Founded by Millard Fuller, along with his wife, Linda, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates in more than 2,000 communities in 83 nations have built and sold more than 120,000 homes to partner families with no-profit, zero-interest mortgages.
