Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Star Cruises Group has been conferred one of the highest awards in Malaysia by the King of Malaysia His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XII Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail during an investiture ceremony held on the occasion of His Majesty's official birthday on 1 June 2002 in Malaysia.

The "Panglima Setia Mahkota" Federal award which carries the title "Tan Sri" is the second class among the Setia Mahkota (Loyalty to the Crown) order, and one of the highest in order of precedence, is conferred on citizens and captains of industry who have brought honour and contributed meritoriously to the country.

Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay is also the Managing Director of Genting Berhad and Resorts World Berhad and Joint Chief Executive of Asiatic Development Berhad, three public listed companies on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and Chairman of Genting International PLC, an investment holding company listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.

"It is a great honor not only to him personally but also to our company that our chairman has had this high title bestowed upon him," said Colin Veitch, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. "Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay's visionary leadership in building the Star Cruises Group from nothing to the fourth largest cruise line in the world in less than ten years is only one of several achievements recognised in this award. The ship and shore staff of NCL and Orient Lines are proud to be part of this great family of Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay's businesses, and proud of the high recognition of our chairman by the Malaysian nation.

"We are extremely pleased on the conferment which is both a huge personal milestone and tremendous recognition for the Star Cruises Group of companies' contributions to the nation. Over the years, the Star Cruises Group has grown hand-in-hand with the nation and has played a pivotal and definitive role in developing cruise tourism in both Malaysia, Asia-Pacific and internationally. We are all very proud and honoured to be on this ship captained by Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay and look forward to his even greater achievements in the near future," added Mr. Chong Chee Tut, Star Cruises Chief Operating Officer.
