Hands-on Banyan Tree Bangkok General Manager, Bernold O. Schroeder, and the Banyan Tree Bangkok Management Team are finalising details for, what has now become an annual and popular event in Bangkok, 'The Vertical Marathon - The Race to the Top', in aid of charity on Sunday 15 September.

Proceeds from the event will be donated as a fund for the 'HIV Formula Feeding Fund The Thai Red Cross Under The Patronage Of Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali.'

Those wanting to prove their stamina, fitness, have fun, or simply help out a good cause, will be pleased to know that application forms and complimentary t-shirts are now ready. Each year the vertical marathon attracts lots of enthusiastic marathon contestants and other participants to take part in this once in a lifetime experience.

With 61 storeys - that's a staggering 1,093 steps - the hotel is one of the tallest city landmarks. Forget the gym for one day - scaling these heights is the latest most challenging way of keeping fit, and you get the added bonus of amazing views when you do finally reach the top. Prizes include luxurious overseas accommodation, air tickets, vouchers and trophies. For more details, telephone (66-2) 679-1200.
