SIX CONTINENTS HOTELS APPOINTS GENERAL MANAGERS FOR ALEXANDRIA PROPERTIES

4 July 2002

Christophe Laure has been appointed general manager of the Windsor Inter-Continental Hotel and Metropole Inter-Continental Hotel in Alexandria. Both hotels are recent additions to Six Continents Hotels portfolio of 121 Middle East and North African properties.

Laure, previously resident manager at the Inter-Continental Hotel Jordan, is a graduate from Lausanne hotel school. His decade of international experience with the Inter-Continental brand includes director of sales positions held at the Hotel Inter-Continental Cannes and Al Bustan Palace Inter-Continental Hotel.

“Both properties are “Heritage” hotels built around the 1900’s”, says Laure of the two hotels now under his care. “Their unique character and seafront location overlooking the Mediterranean will endear them to leisure and business travelers alike.”

The Metropole Inter-Continental Hotel is only ten minutes from the airport and overlooking Alexandria’s eastern harbour. It offers 66 classic period-style rooms and suites, an all-day restaurant serving French and Middle Eastern cuisine, a multi-purpose function hall with two breakout rooms, and a business centre.

The Windsor Palace Inter-Continental Hotel, built in 1906, has 76 rooms and suites. One of two restaurants, the King Edward, offers gourmet dining, and extends to a street-front café overlooking the harbour. There is also a lobby lounge, as well as two multi-function ballrooms, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and William Shakespeare Hall.

While Christophe Laure will also oversee the Holiday Inn Resort in Alexandria, Hassan Nejm, previously resident manager at Pyramids Park Inter-Continental in Cairo has been appointed manager of the Holiday Inn Resort Alexandria, the city’s only international brand hotel property with its own beach.
