DRAGONAIR TAIPEI SERVICES SET TO LAUNCH

3 July 2002

Dragonair will launch three passenger services a day between Hong Kong and Taipei on July 22. The airline will also begin to operate freighter services between the cities on a twice-weekly basis beginning on July 23.

"This is a significant development for Dragonair," said Stanley Hui, Dragonair's Chief Executive Officer. "We now connect all the major cities in the mainland and Taiwan via our Hong Kong hub, which means greater convenience and connectivity for our customers."

"Travellers from Hong Kong can enjoy greater choice and flexibility with the addition of our services, while from Taipei, our flights offer excellent onward connections throughout Dragonair's extensive mainland network."

The airline will operate A330s on the Hong Kong-Taipei route, which have a seating capacity of 290. There will be three flights six days of the week; four on Thursdays.

Mr Hui said: "We see pent-up demand on the route for services from Taipei to Hong Kong, and we also believe Dragonair's mainland connectivity will give us a real competitive edge in the marketplace for those passengers who transit Hong Kong and travel onward to cities in Mainland China."

Freighter services will operate every Tuesday and Wednesday, using one of the Boeing 747-300s in its cargo fleet. The freighter services will also connect with the airline's freighter services from Hong Kong to Shanghai.

All the new services have been made possible by the recently concluded new arrangement on air services between Hong Kong and Taiwan.

"The new arrangement not only signals more choice for travellers and shippers, it also opens the way for increased business opportunities" said Mr. Hui.

Dragonair is a Hong Kong-based airline, operating a fleet of eight A330-300s, four A321s and eight A320s, in addition to two Boeing 747-300 freighters. The airline's passenger network covers 27 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, while its cargo network connects the markets of Europe, the Middle East, Japan and China.
