Shangri-La relaunches value rate with free broadband access

Travel News Asia 29 August 2002

Value Rate, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' revolutionary published rate concept, will be relaunched from 1 September 2002 to provide guests with even better value. Free unlimited broadband internet access, where available, will be added to the extensive list of benefits that guests already enjoy when paying the full room rate at any of Shangri-La's 38 Shangri-La or Traders' hotels.

Available at all times throughout the year with no minimum stay, Value Rate  currently automatically offers guests staying at the group's city hotels free round-trip limousine service, free American breakfast, free dry-cleaning and laundry service, free local calls, all fax and IDD calls at cost and late check-out at 6 pm at no extra charge.

At the group's resorts in Fiji, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore,  guests paying the published rate enjoy benefits more appropriate to the  leisure traveller. These include free buffet dinner at a designated  restaurant, free non-motorised water sports, free American breakfast, free laundry (excluding dry-cleaning), free local telephone calls, IDD calls and faxes at cost and an extended 6 pm late check-out.

Commenting on this initiative, Carmen Lam, the group's sales and marketing director, said: 'Value Rate has been extremely well received by our guests,  particularly as it is available at all our hotels, 365 days a year, with the benefits applying to any length of stay. The additional benefit of free broadband internet access makes Value Rate exceptionally good value and shows Shangri-La's responsiveness as Asia's premier deluxe hotel group to offering great service at a fair rate and to exceeding guest expectations.'

With almost 20,000 rooms, Shangri-La manages 38 hotels and resorts in Asia  Pacific: the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
