Galileo Named as New GDS for Singa China Travel Service

Travel News Asia 28 August 2002

Galileo International, a leading provider of electronic global distribution services (GDS) for the travel industry, today announced that it has become the sole GDS provider for Singa China Travel Service. Based in the People's Park Complex in Singapore, Singa China Travel Service is one of 16 overseas branches of China Travel Service (H.K.) Ltd, which in turn is one of the largest travel agencies in Hong Kong.

"We are delighted to have won this opportunity to support the Singapore branch of China Travel Service," said Janie Kaung, executive vice president and managing director of Galileo's Asia Pacific region. "We have grown strongly in recent years in the Asia Pacific region and this extension to our customer base is a very welcome development that enhances Galileo's commitment to this important marketplace."

Singa China Travel Service's Senior Manager, Mrs Kiat-Tan Kui Chou, added: "Galileo offers a superior package that is attractive both from a business point of view and an operational perspective. Galileo has long been an important player in Singapore and it is no surprise they have successfully addressed our business needs. We look forward to building a mutually beneficial working relationship with them."

Galileo's solutions include an interface that enables Singa China Travel Service to fully automate its business process, from front office to back office. Singa China Travel Service is arranging for a cut-over to Galileo on August 29th.

Galileo's General Manager in Singapore, Serene Chee, added, "We set out to demonstrate that Galileo has powerful and relevant tools that can give customers a competitive edge in growing their businesses. There were three contenders, and we won on the basis of strong solutions, a talented team, and our commitment to customer service."
