Club Inter-Continental Comes To Wellington

27 June 2002

Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington has completed the first stage of its refurbishment program with the opening of Club Inter-Continental - a major development that will further establish Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington as New Zealand's premier hotel.

Club Inter-Continental includes levels eight and nine of the hotel with a private Club lounge and 52 Club rooms incorporating a range of special features. These include full business facilities in each room, superior in-room services and facilities and additional services such as free national newspapers, shoeshine, garment pressing and evening turndown.

Open exclusively to Club Inter-Continental guests, the private Club Lounge offers express check-in and out, full business and concierge services, special business and leisure facilities and free continental breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and canapés and soft beverages throughout the day.

Andrew de Csilléry, Regional Vice President of Operations New Zealand and South Pacific for Six Continents Hotels and also General Manager of Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington, said the new Club Inter-Continental represents an important step forward for the hotel.

"Following the successful re-branding of the hotel to Inter-Continental, it is important that we establish our point of difference. By offering such a premium service to our guests, we are further positioning Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington as the hotel of choice in North Island and New Zealand," Mr de Csilléry said.

Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington's renovations will continue over the next three months with three more floors due for completion by the end of September 2002. The hotel's banquet, conference and meeting facilities will also undergo a full soft refurbishment program between late July and late August in addition to minor upgrading in the hotel lobby and lounge, which is due for completion in September.

"This hotel has taken on one of the world's most prestigious and well-recognised hotel brands, and this refurbishment program will ensure that Hotel Inter-Continental Wellington meets the global standards that our guests deserve," Mr de Csilléry added.
