Massive New Baiyun International Airport More than 60% Completed

China Southern Airlines (NYSE: ZNH) (HKSE: 1055), the largest airline in The People's Republic of China is pleased to announce that construction of the new Baiyun International Airport is right on schedule and more than 60% completed.

China Southern Airlines will be the #1 airline "tenant" when the new Baiyun International Airport opens in October 2003.

Concrete for both runways have been laid and construction is moving at a fevered 24-hour, seven-day-a-week pace with more than 35,000 skilled workers and engineers on hand. Major construction projects currently underway includes the 45,000 square meter central ticket area - within the main terminal complex. Also under major construction is the new five-story Nanland Catering Center; five-story China Southern Airlines Cargo Center, engineering buildings and GAMECO aircraft maintenance facilities.

Already completed and open for use is a brand-new three lane freeway linking the new airport and the center of Guangzhou some 22 kilometers away. The high-speed extension of Guangzhou's subway line - connecting the airport to Guangzhou City - is slated to be completed in May 2004.
