Dragonair advises passengers of move to Pudong Airport

Travel News Asia 25 October 2002

Dragonair will transfer all its Shanghai services from Hongqiao Airport to Pudong International Airport from Sunday, October 27, and is advising passengers departing the city to arrive at the new facility early. As part of the transfer process, the last two flights on October 26, KA894 and KA806 from Hong Kong, will land at Pudong International Airport.

"As this is the first time many of our passengers will have been to Pudong Airport, and in anticipation of heavy road traffic, we are advising passengers to get there about two hours before their flight to ensure they have sufficient time to go through all the necessary departure procedures," said Stanley Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Dragonair.

Dragonair check-in counters at Pudong International Airport open 2 hours and 30 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure time. Flight check-in closes 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time, while gates close 10 minutes before take-off.

The airline will operate all the eight daily flights from Pudong International Airport to Hong Kong commencing on Sunday, October 27.

The move to the airport, which opened in 1999, is providing Dragonair with an opportunity to enhance passenger services there.

The airline will introduce telephone check-in in the city. First and Business Class passengers and Members of The Elite carrying only hand luggage can check in by calling (8621) 6834-6711/6834-6712 up to one day before departure.

Dragonair will also open a 3,600-square-foot lounge at the airport for First and Business Class passengers, and eligible Members of The Elite loyalty club. It will feature telephone, fax, computer, wireless broadband Internet access and television and refreshments.

Passengers who require further information about the new airport and Dragonair's services and operations there can call the airline's reservations number: (852) 3193-3888 in Hong Kong; (8621) 6375-6375 in Shanghai.

Dragonair is a Hong Kong-based airline, operating a fleet of eight A330-300s, four A321s and eight A320s, in addition to two Boeing 747-300 freighters. The airline's passenger network covers 28 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, while its cargo network connects the markets of Europe, the Middle East, Japan, Taiwan and China Mainland.
