Air New Zealand re-confirms no deal reached with Qantas

Travel News Asia 20 August 2002

Air New Zealand has been notified that Qantas Airways Ltd has requested an immediate three day trading halt of its shares on the Australian Stock Exchange. This follows media speculation surrounding the imminent release of Qantas's full year trading results tomorrow and material developments in the Qantas business.

Air New Zealand confirms that although discussions with Qantas are ongoing, no relevant agreement or commitment has been reached. Air New Zealand also advises that no relevant agreements are expected to be reached with Qantas in the next few days and it does not expect to conclude any significant strategic agreements in the next few weeks.

On this basis, Air New Zealand has not requested either the Australian Stock Exchange or the New Zealand Stock Exchange to impose a trading halt or suspend quotation of the Company's shares.
