INDIA’S JET AIRWAYS RATIONALISES ITS FLIGHT SCHEDULES

India's Jet Airways today announced major changes to its flight schedules. Below is a summary of these changes.

Additional Flights 

Jet Airways has commenced a second daily flight on the Delhi-Lucknow-Delhi and Delhi-Indore-Delhi sectors, thereby offering day-return facility. The new Delhi-Lucknow-Delhi and Delhi-Indore-Delhi flights will complement the current flights on these sectors.

A Modern Generation Boeing 737-400 aircraft operates as 9W 725 (Delhi-Lucknow) departing Delhi at 1555 hrs and arriving Lucknow at 1655 hrs. 9W 726 (Lucknow-Delhi) will depart Lucknow at 1725 hrs and arrive Delhi at 1825 hrs. Passengers flying on this sector can avail of a special Economy Class return excursion fare of Rs.5,985, until August 31, 2002.

The second daily Delhi-Indore-Delhi flight will be operated effective July 04, 2002. The morning ATR 72-500 flight, 9W 3309 Delhi-Indore will depart Delhi at 0550 hrs and arrive Indore at 0750 hrs. 9W 3310 will depart Indore at 0820 hrs and arrive Delhi at 1020 hrs.

Jet Airways has increased its current thrice-weekly frequency on the Hyderabad-Vishakapatnam sector to a daily frequency to meet the increasing traffic demand. The flight 9W 3503 (Hyderabad-Vishakapatnam) departs Hyderabad at 1220 hrs and arrives Vishakapatnam at 1350 hrs. 9W 3504 departs Vishakapatnam at 1420 hrs and arrives Hyderabad at 1550 hrs.

Suspension of Flights

Consequently, with these additional flights, Jet Airways has simultaneously suspended operations on the Hyderabad-Tirupati-Hyderabad sector due to reduced demand.

The evening frequency on the Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi sector has also been suspended while the Delhi-Jodhpur flight will be withdrawn effective July 04, 2002.

Change in Flight Timings

The timings of some flights operating to and from Chennai have been revised. The daily flight 9W 823 (Delhi-Chennai) will now depart Delhi at 1925 hrs and arrive Chennai at 2200 hrs. The departure of flight 9W 483 (Chennai-Coimbatore) has been advanced by 15 minutes. It will depart Chennai at 1125 hrs and arrive Coimbatore at 1220 hrs. 9W484 will depart Coimbatore at 1255 hrs and arrive Chennai at 1350 hrs. The flight 9W 468 

(Chennai-Mumbai) will depart Chennai at 1745 hrs and arrive Mumbai at 1930 hrs. 

Change in Flight Numbers

Jet Airways has restructured some flight numbers for easier reference and for the convenience of its passengers. Flight 9W 601 / 602 (Delhi-Guwahati-Bagdogra-Delhi) departing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will now operate as 9W 601. Similarly, the flight 9W 601/602 (Delhi-Bagdogra-Guwahati-Delhi) departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays will also operate as 9W 601. The flight 9W 605/606 (Delhi-Jammu-Srinagar-Delhi) will operate as 9W 605. The flight 603/604 (Delhi-Srinagar-Jammu-Delhi) will operate as 9W 603. The ATR72-500 flight 9W 3403/3404 (Mumbai-Diu-Porbandar-Mumbai) will operate as 9W 3403.

Jet Airways has a fleet comprising of 30 Modern and Next-Generation Boeing 737-400/700/800 aircraft and eight modern ATR 72-500 turbo-prop aircraft. With an average age of 2.9 years, the airline is the operator of the youngest aircraft fleet in South-East Asia. The airline has flown over 30.6 million passengers since inception on May 5, 1993 till end May 2002. The airline operates over 245 flights daily to 41 destinations within India, offering Business Class (Club Premiere) service on most of the flights in addition to Economy Class.
