K. Umit Eruysal Appointed General Manager for The Regent Almaty, Kazakhstan

Regent International Hotels has announced the appointment of Mr. K. Umit Eruysal to the position of general manager for The Regent Almaty. With more than 25 years experience in the hospitality industry, Mr. Eruysal has worked for a number of luxury hotel companies. Most recently, he served as general manager/project manager for the Halikarnas Project which is under construction in Bodrum, Turkey. When complete, the 3,500 acre complex will include a five-star luxury hotel, holiday village, time-share villas and marina. Mr. Eruysal served as project manager during the construction phase. He also managed the completed first phase of the project, which included Europe's largest entertainment complex. 

"Umit has a proven track record of increasing occupancies and enhancing the bottom line of already successful luxury hotel operations, and managing the construction and successful openings of new properties," said Tom Huffsmith, president of Regent International Hotels. "He brings respected leadership to The Regent Almaty that will benefit employees and guests alike," Huffsmith added.

Past experience for Mr. Eruysal also includes serving as general manager for the Ceylan Complex. Situated on 700 acres near Antalya, Turkey, the complex encompasses a holiday village, time-share villas and two luxury resort hotels, including the Ceylan Inter-Continental Resort at Kemer. Under his leadership, the resort achieved a 55 percent increase in occupancy and a substantial increase in the average daily rate.

Mr. Eruysal attended the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). He speaks Turkish, English and French and has earned designation from the Sommelier Program at Toronto's George Brown College.

The 290-room Regent Almaty is the premier business hotel in Kazakhstan’s business capital, Almaty. The 14-story building is centrally located in Republic Square, and thanks to its contemporary, sophisticated exterior has become a landmark in the city.
