Six Continents Hotels appoints Graham Pattenden as Vice President, Technical Services and Engineering, Asia Pacific

Six Continents Hotels, the largest multi-brand hotel operator globally and in Asia Pacific, today announced the appointment of Graham Pattenden as Vice President, Technical Services and Engineering, Asia Pacific.

Mr. Pattenden will oversee functions including new and existing hotel design approval and ensuring technical services activities adhere to capital project procedures, corporate initiatives and directions. Having a regional scope, he will ensure that technical service implementation in all properties is consistent with Six Continents Hotels' brand strategy for Asia Pacific. Mr. Pattenden will set and control operational procedures and standards for hotel engineering operations and ensure compliance with programs. In addition, he will also participate in the Regional Management Development committee (RMEC), the Design Review Board Asia Pacific and the Fire, Life Safety Forum, Risk Management Team. Mr. Pattenden is responsible for North and South Asia encompassing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific.

"In line with our strategy to help hotel property owners enhance the value of their properties and generate revenue, Graham's demonstrated expertise of a broad range of hotel design will play a major role in the conceptualization and detailed design of new and renovated hotels."

Six Continents Hotels executives who will report to Mr. Pattenden include: Andrew Day, Director, Technical Services and Project Manager, Inter-Continental Hong Kong; Paul Davis, Director, Technical Services, Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific (ANZSP) ; Mahn England, Director, Technical Services, ANZSP; Paul Reyburn, Director, Technical Services, Northern Asia; Lau Loo Lan, Director, Technical Services, Southern Asia.

Prior to joining Six Continents Hotels, Mr. Pattenden was Director of Engineering and Projects for Europe, Africa and the Middle East Division of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he was responsible for the overall direction and performance of engineering departments of 150 hotels. He was also involved in services and technical design. In 2001, his efforts on Westin La Quinta Hotel in Spain paid off when the project received the worldwide "Best New Hotel Guestroom Design" honor awarded by Architectural Digest. 

Mr. Pattenden started his career in hospitality as Manager of Engineering at the then flagship Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers. He worked his way up the ranks holding a number of Chief Engineer positions throughout the division focusing primarily on new hotel openings. During that time, he was recognized for delivering results for the company and his in-depth understanding of all facets of design, construction and project management. In 1990, he was promoted to the position of Director of Technical Services, Australia Pacific Region. In 1994, Mr. Pattenden earned the position of Vice President, Director of Technical Services Asia Pacific, where he played a major role and was responsible for the design, development and successful project management of over 30 hotels throughout Asia Pacific. He also oversaw the performance of operating hotel engineering departments and capital planning for 65 operating hotels in the region.

Mr. Pattenden will be based in Singapore reporting to Mr. Patrick Imbardelli, Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Vice President, Staff Services, Six Continents Hotels Asia Pacific.
