Great Eagle Hotel Hong Kong launches 'Langham Suites'

Travel News Asia 15 October 2002

The Great Eagle Hotel has substantially upgraded and refurbished its Club Floor facilities and launched a brand new Club Floor category, the “Langham Suites”. These six stylish suites are set to become a new highlight at the Great Eagle Hotel.

The suites are named after the legendary Langham Hotel, which opened in London in 1865, and are designed as a contemporary reflection of the golden years of grand British hospitality as typified by the Langham Hotel.

The Langham Hotel is owned by Great Eagle Holdings and managed by Hilton International. When built, that hotel was designed to capture the grace and elegance of two great Victorian institutions: the country house and the private club. It was also a leader in technology, being the first hotel in the world to feature elevators. Similarly, The Great Eagle’s Club Floor combines this classical, private club atmosphere with cutting-edge technological innovation.

Each Langham Suite is equipped with a brand new 37” Plasma TV, high speed in-room broadband internet connection and DVD surround sound home theatre to create the “dream home away from home”. The suites also feature the Great Eagle’s new signature “yume” beds, the most comfortable king-sized beds in Hong Kong. The name “yume’ is Japanese for dream.

The Club Lounge at the Great Eagle Hotel has also just undergone a facelift. The size of the new Club Lounge has doubled in capacity. All Club Floor and Suite guests can enjoy complimentary hot buffet breakfast, all day unlimited drinks, snacks and ice-cream, and complimentary evening cocktails and canapés in a more spacious and private atmosphere.

The brand new “Executive Corner” at the Club Lounge offers free broadband internet connection with state of the art computers, printers and copiers allowing guests to keep in touch with the world anytime, any place, and a 42” Plasma TV Home Theatre with DVD surround sound is available in the “ Victoria Lounge”.

Additional benefits for Club Floor guests include personalised check in/out, welcome fruit platter; daily newspaper; complimentary personal pressing and laundry services; complimentary local telephone calls; private facsimile in room; complimentary use of the business centre meeting room and use of the hotel’s 24-hour health club and outdoor swimming pool.

The Great Eagle Hotel is a stylish, classical European style five star hotel with a strong emphasis on personalised service, which is rapidly becoming the preferred venue for discerning travelers, particularly from the fashion and entertainment industries. It is superbly located right in the midst of Hong Kong’s busiest commercial district and serves as a discreet and relaxing sanctuary from the excitement and activity outside.

The Great Eagle is just a 3-minute walk from Hong Kong’s famous Star Ferry, a 5-minute walk from the Mass Transit Railway Station, a 10-minute drive from the Kowloon-Canton Railway station and a 40-minute drive from Chek Lap Kok Airport. Limousine airport transfers can be arranged.

On top of the hotel is a swimming pool with sundeck, and a fully equipped boutique fitness center which is open 24-hours daily. Business travellers can make use of a Business Centre which is located next to the hotel reception. For meetings and events, the Great Eagle Hotel offers a superb Ballroom as well as a suite of four elegant but smaller function rooms.

The Great Eagle Hotel is an independently managed hotel which is wholly owned by Great Eagle Holdings Limited. The company also owns a number of prestigious international hotels including The Langham Hilton in London, Sheraton Towers Southgate in Melbourne, Le Meridien Boston, Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto and the Sheraton Auckland Hotel and Towers. In Hong Kong, the company also owns The Eaton Hotel, Eaton House Furnished Apartments and Yat Tung Heen Chinese Restaurants.
