Construction well underway for Jumeirah International's latest world-class resort development Madinat Jumeirah

13 May 2002
Construction is well underway for Jumeirah International's latest world-class resort development, Madinat Jumeirah. Located adjacent to Burj Al Arab and The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah is designed to be one of the most luxurious and diverse resorts in the world.

Enhancing Dubai's reputation as one of the world's most idyllic destinations, located on the shores of the Gulf, the 40 hectares resort development Madinat Jumeirah will offer the ultimate Arabian experience against the setting of a highly luxurious resort. Adjoining Burj Al Arab and The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah will benefit from the existing global recognition of three of Dubai's flagship hotels. The resort is designed to encompass and promote the rich heritage and traditions of Arabia, allowing visitors and guests to experience the history and roots of the Arabic culture within an exclusive environment.

Madinat Jumeirah will include two 300 room, five star hotels, 'Port Al Salam' and 'Al Qasr,' and clusters of 340 rooms and suites in courtyard villas, all featuring authentic architecture reflecting the heritage and culture of Dubai and the Arabian region. The first hotel, 'Port Al Salam' is to be completed in the first phase of the resort, by the summer of 2003 and the resort is expected to be completed in autumn 2004. To link the hotels, villas and facilities throughout the resort, Madinat Jumeirah will feature a three-kilometre waterway that flows through the entire area, allowing guests to access all facilities by using traditional abras. This unique facility will enhance the total experience that guests will be offered when staying in the resort.

Against the exotic setting of the waterway and landscaping, Madinat Jumeirah will feature the largest and most versatile Spa in the Middle East region, offering both European and Oriental style relaxation therapies and treatments as well as traditional style steam rooms, baths and other facilities. In addition, the main Souk and cultural village, with over 120 shops, cafes and restaurants, will be designed to represent the traditional trading culture where gold, spices, fabrics as well as curios will be on sale to both guests and visitors of the resort. As many as 36 restaurants and cafes will be small and intimate and will be located in the alleys within the Souk and throughout the lush, landscaped gardens of the resort itself.

To complement the great variety in accommodation and leisure facilities, Madinat Jumeirah will feature a meeting and convention centre of over 9000 square metres with a 2000 square metres ballroom, again reflecting the architecture and Arabic heritage of the region. In addition, located at the centre of the village, there will be a large amphitheatre, which will accommodate up to a thousand people for shows and entertainment events.

Madinat Jumeirah will stretch over one kilometre of the idyllic Jumeirah Beach - providing guests and visitors with the ultimate in relaxation and recreation. This, in conjunction with the many swimming pools and other recreational facilities, will make Madinat Jumeirah the ultimate haven for both business and leisure travellers alike.
