VIRGIN ATLANTIC SUPPORTS ENGLAND'S WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN

13 June 2002

Virgin Atlantic is to celebrate England's progress in the World Cup with a series of initiatives.

The activities will take place on Saturday 15 June in the build up to England's match with Denmark and will include:

· face-painting for children at Heathrow and Gatwick - the cross of St. George is expected to be everyone's favourite.

· Virgin Atlantic flight deck, cabin crew and ground staff will wear t-shirts with a "come on SvEngland" message on the front and a cheeky "Don't cry for me Argentina" on the back.

· the progress of England's crucial match will be relayed to Virgin's passengers by the captain on all air borne flights and at the final whistle passengers will be able to enjoy England's victory (or in the unlikely event of a defeat - claims Virgin), return to 'Bend it like Beckham' on the onboard system offering up to 20 channels of inflight entertainment.

Virgin's daily services to Tokyo are carrying many passengers who've made the last minute decision to fly to see England play, or to simply soak up the atmosphere in Japan, and tickets are still available to fly on 14 June from £780.

Steve Ridgway, Chief Executive, said today:

"Everyone is getting behind Sven Goran Eriksson's team and all of us at Virgin Atlantic are celebrating their progress. Saturday's match with Denmark will be our biggest challenge yet and we are ready to celebrate with all our passengers for what we hope will be a famous English victory."
