Holiday Inn Renews Relationship With Holden Racing Team

13 June 2002

Six Continents Hotels has announced that it has renewed its support for the Holden Racing Team following the signing of a two-year sponsorship agreement under its global hotel brand, Holiday Inn.

The sponsorship, which includes support for the Holden, K-Mart and Holden Young Lions racing teams, will see the Holiday Inn logo appear on the team's number one and number two Commodores, driver suit sleeves, pit and workshop signage, stationary, clothing and apparel worn by the team and official merchandise.

With Holden Racing Team's superstar drivers Mark Skaife and Jason Bright currently ranked first and fifth respectively in the 2002 V8 Supercar series and K-Mart Racing Team drivers Greg Murphy and Todd Kelly ranked second and fourth, Holiday Inn's renewed sponsorship represents a strong profile-raising opportunity for the brand.

"The Holden Racing Team has proven itself to be the hot contender in this year's series and we are very proud of our ongoing association with them," said Six Continents Hotels Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee.

"Holiday Inn is one of the fastest growing hotel brands in Australia and New Zealand, with Holiday Inn Darling Harbour and Holiday Inn Rooty Hill the latest additions to the brand's portfolio. The exposure we have received as a long-time sponsor of the Holden Racing Team has contributed to that success, and we look forward to continuing our mutually beneficial relationship with the team," Mr Lee said.
