Air Canada Inaugurates Non-Stop Service to Dublin, Re-Introduces Non-Stop Summer Service to Amsterdam

13 June 2002

Air Canada today inaugurates its non-stop service from Toronto to Dublin, with direct onward service to Shannon, when flight AC894 leaves Lester B. Pearson International Airport at 2220 en route to the Irish capital.

Air Canada also re-introduces today its non-stop summer service between Toronto and Amsterdam with the departure of flight AC892 at 2035. To promote the routes, Air Canada is offering double Aeroplan miles for members travelling until July 31, 2002.

"Today marks the inaugural of the only daily non-stop service from Canada to Ireland as well as the re-introduction of our non-stop summer service to Amsterdam, both featuring excellent connections to and from cities across Canada and the United States," said Marc Rosenberg, Vice President, Sales and Product Distribution. "The introduction of service to Dublin and Amsterdam further strengthens Air Canada's presence in the European market during the high demand summer travel season, June through October, and is consistent with our strategy to profitably redeploy aircraft while capitalizing on new market opportunities."

Air Canada's direct flights to Amsterdam and Dublin, scheduled to operate until October 24, and October 26, 2002, respectively, complement the carrier's year-round services to Ireland and The Netherlands via London Heathrow offered in cooperation with its Star Alliance partner, bmi british midland. Flights on the new Dublin route are operated with 198-seat Boeing 767-200 aircraft offering a choice of Hospitality and Supercomfort classes of service.

Air Canada's Supercomfort class, available on flights to Dublin, Glasgow and Manchester, features a spacious 2-2-2 seating configuration and ample 40-inch pitch legroom in a quiet environment at premium economy class fares. Flights on the Amsterdam route will be operated primarily with 212-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft offering a choice of Hospitality and Executive First service.
