Service using amphibious Cessna aircraft “has great potential for business and leisure traffic in the UAE”

Emarat Link’s new twice-daily flights between Fujairah and Dubai have been hailed by senior airline and civil aviation department officials as a welcome addition to passenger transport in the UAE.

The Gulf region’s only amphibious commercial aircraft operator launched the new service on Saturday, establishing a valuable link for business and leisure travellers between Fujairah and the northern Emirates, and Dubai.

Among the VIP guests who travelled on the inaugural flights between Dubai and Fujairah, Tim Clark, Emirates’ Chief Director, Airline, said: “I was very impressed with the professionalism of the operation. I thoroughly enjoyed the flights, and the service has great potential for business and leisure traffic in the UAE".

Anita Mehra Homayoun, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communications, for the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, commented: “This is an encouraging new development, and we believe the new Emarat Link flights will be well received by both business and leisure travellers. The service was excellent.”

The sight of Emarat Link’s Cessna Caravan seaplanes taking of and landing on Dubai Creek is already a familiar one, as the company has been operating a selection of 45-minute, 20-minute and ten-minute sightseeing tours in and around Dubai for several months.

Following the launch of the Dubai-Fujairah service, the next step will be the introduction shortly of a shuttle service from the Abu Dhabi Corniche to Dubai Creek, and more expansion is set to follow.

“We’re planning to introduce more services within the UAE, and also to branch out into other parts of the Gulf region,” said Thomas Bommer, Emarat Link’s General Manager.

Initially, we’re concentrating of fully establishing our new service between Fujairah and Dubai, and we expect this to become extremely popular both with businessmen and officials as well as leisure travellers looking to explore the northern Emirates.”

The Emarat Link flights take off daily from Dubai Creek at 8.30am and 3.20pm, and from Fujairah International Airport at 9.40am and 4.30pm. Flying time is just 25 minutes. At Dhs780 return and Dhs550 one-way, and offering a drop-off service by private car in Fujairah and Dubai to all passengers, the flights represent excellent value for money.
