Air New Zealand and the New Zealand Airline Pilots Association have agreed
on a basis for averting a proposed 48 hour strike and resuming bargaining on
a collective employment agreement.

Representatives of Air New Zealand and ALPA reached agreement this morning
on a basis for continuing bargaining on a collective agreement.

As a result, ALPA has withdrawn its notice of a 48 hour strike from 4.00am
on Friday, 19 July, to 4.00am on Sunday, 21 July, and Air New Zealand has
withdrawn its application to the Employment Court to have intended actions
by ALPA and its members declared illegal.

Air New Zealand is now planning to restore its normal international and
domestic flight schedules between 19 and 21 July.
