Galileo Singapore Agents' Night Recognizes Year's Best-Performing Agents

Travel News Asia 11 October 2002

Galileo International, a leading provider of electronic global distribution services for the travel industry, held its annual Singapore Agents' Night yesterday evening to thank its travel agency customers in that market for their loyalty and to recognize the year's best performers.

Galileo entertained guests with a "Wild Wild West" theme with prizes sponsored by over 20 airlines and hotels, including EVA Airways, Kuwait Airways, All Nippon Airways, Marriott Int'l Inc, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, The Fullerton Hotel, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, The Leading Hotels of the World and Hertz Car Rental in Jakarta.

Customers attending the event at the Executive Club in OCBC Centre represented a broad cross-section of Singapore's travel agency community, including major corporate travel management companies as well as mid-sized businesses.

Galileo Singapore named five agencies jointly as "Best Performing Agents in 2002" - American Express Int'l Inc., Anglo French Travel, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Creative Tours (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Rosenbluth Int'l Travel (S) Pte Ltd.

Taking the prizes for "Best Per Terminal Producers in 2002" - in recognition of the highest number of segments generated by travel agencies on a per-terminal basis - were Citystate Ardent Travel, Ganesh Travel Service, Kwang Chow Travel, Serangoon Air Travel and Spherical Travel Management.

"We would like to thank our valued customers for their business and congratulate this year's winners," said Janie Kaung, executive vice president and managing director of Galileo's Asia Pacific region. "Our customer base in Singapore has grown steadily since we established a local office almost 10 years ago. We have held our Agents' Night eight years in a row to express our appreciation to the travel agencies we work with and to reconfirm that we are committed to providing the highest levels of support that they require from their GDS provider."
