JAN CHOVANEC APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER AT SWISSÔTEL ISTANBUL, THE BOSPHORUS, TURKEY

Raffles International Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jan Chovanec as the General Manager of Swissôtel Istanbul, The Bosphorus in Turkey. Prior to this appointment, Mr Chovanec was the General Manager of Swissôtel Washington, The Watergate in the United States. 

Mr Chovanec has more than 28 years of hospitality management experience. He started his career with Swissôtel in 1998, when he was appointed General Manager of Swissôtel Chicago. 

He has also held executive positions at Ritz Carlton hotels in Boston and Washington D.C. and has headed his own hospitality consulting firm. His work experience spans various locations in the United States, Puerto Rico and Eastern Europe.

Mr Chovanec is a native of Czechoslovakia, where he received his master's degree in business administration at the University of Economics in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. During his tenure in Washington, D.C., he was actively involved in creating strategic alliances with leading organisations, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Young Concerts Artists and the Washington Ballet.

Mr Chovanec is fluent in English, Czech and Slovak, and conversant in German and Russian.

The Swissôtel Istanbul, The Bosphorus is located downtown overlooking the Bosphorus. 

The hotel offers 567 comfortable state-of-the-art guestrooms and 15 restaurants and bars. The Swissôtel Istanbul, The Bosphorus is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and has been selected by the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List as one of the "World's Best Places to stay" (in 1999 - 2002).
