New Appointments At Shangri-La Hotels And Resorts

Asia's largest luxury hotel company based in the region, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, has announced a number of senior appointments in light of the recently announced expansion in China.

Henry Lee, currently the General Manager of the Traders Hotel Manila, will become the General Manager of the new 460-bedroom Shangri-La Dingshan Nanjing, which will open in June 2001.

Stuart Chase, the Hotel Manager of the China World Hotel Beijing, is promoted to General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Zhongshan. This new 264-bedroom hotel in southern China will open late this year.

Other moves include the appointment of Peter Carmichael as General Manager of the China World Hotel Beijing, where he was formerly Hotel Manager from 1995 to 1998. Stefan Bollhalder will replace Peter Carmichael as General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. Stefan Bollhalder is presently General Manager of the Park Hyatt Hamburg Hotel.

Arbind Shrestha joins Shangri-Las Tanjung Aru Resort, Kota Kinabalu as General Manager from the Traders Hotel Yangon where he was General Manager.

The Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan will also have a new General Manager. Albert Cheong, currently the General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen, will shortly take up this appointment.

Taking his place as General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen will be Johnson Wong who has been promoted from Resident Manager at the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Duncan Chu is promoted to Hotel Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Beihai. Currently, he is the Resident Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts operates 37 properties within Asia with four new hotels in construction: the Shangri-La Hotel Dubai, the Shangri-La Dingshan Nanjing, the Shangri-La Hotel Zhongshan and the Shangri-La Hotel Zhengzhou.
