UNITED AIRLINES ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF MILEAGE PLUS DOUBLE MILES OFFER THROUGH DECEMBER 15, 2001

Travel News Asia Date: 5 November 2001

Offer extends airline’s rewards program for loyal customers

United Airlines’ Mileage Plus Program is extending its offer of double miles for travel on United and United Express through December 15, 2001.

The offer, which was first announced in early October, included double miles for Mileage Plus members worldwide who purchase and fly any published fare in any booking class for one and a half months until mid November.

"We have received great feedback from our customers about the Mileage Plus offers. This is very encouraging for us and now we would like more of our frequent flyers to benefit,” said Nicolas E. Ferri, general sales manager for United in Hong Kong. “This one month extension of the double miles offer is just one of our ongoing initiatives aimed at making it a great time to fly.”

The bonus miles apply to base flight miles only and do not go toward Premier status. This offer can be earned an unlimited number of times and may be combined with other offers.

Together with the double miles offer, United is also promoting a Travel Award Sale for Mileage Plus members worldwide.

Members can now redeem a free round-trip economy-class ticket for travel between Asia and North America for just 40,000 miles.

United Mileage Plus members can easily redeem an award by calling their local reservations office.

When a reservation is made, the miles are automatically deducted from a member’s account and an E-Ticket is issued within seconds. There are no award codes to remember or forms to fill out, and there is no fee for requesting last-minute award travel.

These awards must be ticketed and travel must be completed by the dates shown in the chart below:
