Galileo join Worldspan, Sabre and Travelocity to discuss how Wireless Technology will revolutionise the GDSs

Travel News Asia Date: 4 September 2001

Stephen Quackenbush of Galileo will join keynote speakers John James of Worldspan, Don Addington of Travelocity.com and Bob Offutt of Sabre Labs at the ‘Wireless in the Travel Industry’ Conference and Exhibition.

Taking place at the LA Convention Center, 11-12 September 2001, they will discuss how wireless technology will affect the GDS systems and assess whether m-commerce will be as kind to them as e-commerce has been already.

Issues to be discussed include:

· Can GDS backed wireless information/booking benefit travel agents?

· Can GDSs distribute more than hotel rooms and plane tickets or will low-income tourism products prove of too little value?

· Where will the GDSs make money from wireless?

The conference moderated by Michael Dyment, MD, Aviation Industry Practice, Arthur Andersen will also feature case studies and interactive panels featuring visionary companies such as:

United Airlines, America West Airlines, American Express, Lastminute.com, Carlson Hotels Worldwide, Expedia.com, AvantGo Inc and Peppers and Rogers Group

Networking opportunities at the event will include free access to the PCIA GlobalXChange, America’s premier mobile exhibition, and at a cocktail reception at the luxurious la Figueroa Hotel.

“This is the must-attend event for everyone involved in the distribution and customer service of the travel product through wireless channels. With so many key decision makers and visionary speakers together under one roof, coupled with unparalleled networking opportunities at the PCIA GlobalXChange, it will be the premier place to do new business, develop new strategies and form new partnerships”, says Event Director Carl Goodman
