United Airlines today announced the launch of a 9-day internet promotion from August 6 to 14 for Hong Kong residents to win a full travel package to the U.S. Open 2001.

All Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above are eligible to join a lucky draw by registering with a specially designed Internet Page www.unitedairlines.com.hk/usopen/promo at United’s Hong Kong website. The Grand Prize for this promotion is a full travel package which includes:

§ 2 United return tickets to New York

§ 4 nights' hotel accommodation

§ 2 courtside box seats at the U.S. Open

This year United is the official airline of the U.S. Open, one of the most prestigious and exciting tennis tournaments in the world. The airline wants its customers to share the excitement. So it is launching a worldwide promotion in August and offering the package detailed above to lucky winners from a number of markets, including Hong Kong.

A winner will be selected randomly on August 15 once the promotion ends at the mid-night of the 14th.

“We are thrilled at being the official airline of the U.S. Open this year and we want to be able to share the excitement with our customers. Some of them are already planning to fly with us to New York for this major event next month. Now some lucky ones will be able to get everything arranged for free by United,” said Nicolas E. Ferri, United’s General Sales Manager for Hong Kong.

As a pioneer in developing technology and one of the first airlines to offer comprehensive travel services through its websites, United has chosen the Internet as the media for the U.S. Open promotion. United’s customers will be invited personally by the airline via email to join this promotion.

The popularity of United’s Hong Kong website www.unitedairlines.com.hk has grown rapidly since its relaunch last year with the addition of a local booking engine and other travel related services. The website also features a customer paging service that advises customers of flight information via their internet-enabled pager, cellular phone or personal computer; customers’ personal information on United’s frequent flyer program, Mileage Plus; up-to-the-minute flight information; hotel reservations, car rental bookings, etc. It is available in Chinese.

“United has a great website and, we would like to encourage more visits to it through this promotion. We have also provided an option for visitors to tell their friends about this great opportunity,” added Mr. Ferri.

United Airlines offers nearly 2,300 flights a day to 130 destinations in 27 countries and two U.S. territories. In Hong Kong, United operates daily non-stop services to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Singapore and Delhi.

United Airlines is a founding member of the Star Alliance, the first comprehensive global airline network. United and its Star Alliance partners offer flights to 894 destinations in 129 countries.
