IGTM 2001 ATTRACTS THE INTERNATIONAL GOLF TRAVEL INDUSTRY TO SUN CITY

Travel News Asia Date: 31 August 2001

The fourth International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) has received an overwhelming response, with the majority of the floor space already sold for the event which is taking place in Sun City, South Africa, 5-8 December 2001.

Exhibitors from 31 countries have signed up to date, including strong representation from Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, USA, Dubai, Egypt, Turkey, Argentina and South Africa. In addition, Canada, the Caribbean, Bahrain, Belgium, England, Kenya, New Zealand, Australia, Morocco, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia and Wales are all represented and Switzerland Tourism are participating for the first time.

"With over 3 months to go 88% of the floor space has already been sold and the geographical profile of exhibitors confirms that IGTM continues to be the international event for the golf travel industry", said Mark Walsh, Exhibition Manager, IGTM.

Golf tour operators are also securing their places at IGTM 2001, with twice as many buyers registered than this time last year.

"Last years event attracted 165 golf tour operators from 33 countries and if the current momentum is maintained we would expect to exceed this for IGTM 2001" commented Lindsey Kavanagh, Marketing Manager, IGTM.

Sun City is proving to be a very popular venue, especially as IGTM takes place the week after the prestigious "Nedbank Million Dollar Challenge" which attracts the best golfers in the world.

IGTM is the only dedicated event for the golf travel industry, bringing together specialist golf tour operators, incentive travel agents and meetings and conference organisers, with leading hotels, resorts, golf courses airlines and other suppliers of golf travel related products.

The event is structured into pre-scheduled appointments, providing delegates with a perfect business forum as well as social and networking opportunities, which include a Gala Awards Dinner and a golf tournament.
