CROWNE PLAZA SETS NEW BENCHMARKS FOR MEETINGS, CONFERENCES

Travel News Asia Date: 30 October 2001

Renovations and additions boost Crowne Plaza Muscat as “Meeting Success” programme takes hassle out of staging events

Crowne Plaza hotels and resorts across the Middle East and Africa are continuing to boost facilities and service for the staging of meetings, conferences, and special events.

Following last year’s introduction of “Meeting Success”, a global programme guaranteeing specially tailored service for meetings, conference and event organisers, the region’s Crowne Plaza properties have been unveiling an impressive range of new facilities.

Its key ingredients include permanent support from a team of professionally trained specialist staff, adaptability to stage large or small meetings, and availability of comprehensive business services and essential equipment. Event organisers are given one contact number, a single sales consultant guides them through the booking process, and a conference concierge manages the event from start to finish, taking away the anxiety, and the risk of disappointing results.

In the most recent development, the Crowne Plaza Muscat, already a popular conference and business meeting venue, has completed refurbishments, additions and equipment improvements to its conference facilities.

“This makes the hotel an even more attractive option in a very competitive market,” says General Manager, Didier Coeln. “Organisers of conferences, meetings, product launches and other corporate events demand flexibility, individuality and attention to detail. With refurbishments we are now providing more class facilities and accommodation to match.”

Conference area and created the new Al Khanjar boardroom. The Al Mandaloun conference facility is highly versatile, catering for up to 50 persons in a classroom training layout, 80 persons banquet style, and up to 100 people for a reception or theatre style presentation.

The new Al Khanjar boardroom seats 12 and offers audiovisual equipment, facsimile, data ports, internet access and mini fridge. The Crowne Plaza Muscat also has business rooms and allocated office space.

Just 20 minutes from Seeb International Airport and ten minutes from the diplomatic and business centre of Muscat, the hotel caters for overnight conference delegates and guests, with 208 rooms and VIP suites. Restaurants offer Persian, Italian, Lebanese, international and traditional cuisine and guests have access to a gym, sauna, squash and hotel and beach swimming.

The hotel is one of nine Crowne Plaza properties in the Middle East and Africa where the “Meeting Success” programme is making the staging of meetings, conferences and special events hassle-free for organisers, and successful.

In addition to Muscat, Six Continents Hotels currently manages Crowne Plaza hotels in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Johannesburg, Zimbabwe and Casablanca, as well as the spectacular new Crowne Plaza Resort Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. The Crowne Plaza Beirut, and the Crowne Plaza Resort Abu Soma in Egypt, both open early next year.
