NOVOTEL ATLANTIS SHANGHAI INTRODUCES EXECUTIVE FLOOR FOR FEMALE TRAVELLERS

Travel News Asia Date: 30 April 2001

‘Club Femme’ accents comfort and safety with a feminine touch

Novotel Atlantis Shanghai has opened a dedicated executive floor to cater to the growing needs of female business travellers, who make up an increasing percentage of the hotel’s guests.

Located on the hotel’s 43rd floor, the Club Femme ladies’ floor has all the excellent regular facilities as the rest of the hotel, with the added benefit of special amenities and services designed specifically with women in mind.

General Manager, Giles Cretallaz-Speich, said the Novotel Atlantis Shanghai stood apart from its competitors when identifying the needs of business travellers, especially women.

“Pampering female travellers staying at Club Femme will help them better enjoy their business trip and increase productivity while dealing with the rigours of corporate travel.

“Women travelling alone have special needs. They sometimes face the problem of feeling uncomfortable and uncatered to — perhaps even unsafe. So we wanted to address and remedy this situation in order to best care for and service our female guests. They have become an important niche market as the number of female executives on the road in Asia has increased dramatically the last few years.

“Safety has also been taken care of on the Club Femme ladies’ floor. Special female security personnel are on duty to provide safety services, and visitors to the floor may stay only until 23:00.”

Located in the heart of Pudong’s spectacular new Lujiazui financial and business district, Novotel Atlantis Shanghai offers day-to-day essentials that focus on the needs of the modern woman. These include nail clippers, facial tissues, umbrellas, electric irons, coat hangers, floral arrangements and a garment dryer.

Other personal touches include a full range of bathroom amenities and toiletries designed for women only. There are also women magazines, pot-pourri, a selection of aromatherapy treatments and massages available at the hotel’s Atlantis Spa — or in the room — ranging from US$25 to US$ 60.

Female guests also have access to the hotel’s excellent beauty salons and the services offered therein.

Director of Rooms Division, Marc Cherrier, said extensive research into women’s needs was conducted before launching Club Femme in April.

“Club Femme rooms blend essentials, comforting touches and luxuries to make Novotel Atlantis stays even more special for women.

‘We’ve considered what travelling women need and added something extra. Often it might be things they’ve run out of or forgotten to pack, or because they simply merit extra pampering on the road.

“Each is a discrete, small touch on its own that when added up makes a huge difference,” Mr Cherrier, said.
