Travel News Asia Date: 29 October 2001

Leading East African tour operator Muthaiga Travel Ltd. has decided to feature travel packages to Dubai following the hosting of a successful familiarization visit by the Government of Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

"We are pleased with their decision to promote Dubai packages," said DTCM Director General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem. "East Africa is a small but fast growing source of visitors for Dubai and there are currently 74 tour operators offering Dubai packages," he said.

"Last year, Dubai's hotel establishments recorded a 22% growth in guests from East Africa and with both Emirates airlines and Kenya Airways offering seven weekly flights linking the emirate with Nairobi we are bound to increase our market share," Mr. bin Sulayem emphasized.

Ms. Klarissa Wills, Managing Director of Muthaiga Travel Ltd. remarked, "This is my first visit to Dubai and I am so impressed by the beautiful emirate that we will be only too keen to promote it in East Africa. This destination is safe, clean and beautiful and the standards of service are excellent."

DTCM Manager Missions, Hamad bin Mejren gave a comprehensive presentation on the destination and its attractions to the visiting tour operator followed by a screening of the video 'Destination Dubai' .

DTCM officials have organized an expansive itinerary for the tour operator that includes a trip to the emirate's various tourist attractions.
